BIOGRAPHY - HEATHER MADDEN
Dance has been a major part
of Hadasah’s life since she was 5.
Hadasah began taking ballet classes during grade school, when her
parents moved from Miami to New York City. At the age of 8 she won a dance
contest in Atlantic City that was hosted by American Band Stand (Dick
Clark) and hoped to be a professional dancer She then rounded her studies
with Gymnastic classes, which helped strengthen and tone her body.
When Hadasah was a teenager, she had a friend who’s Sister was a
belly dancer and she knew then that someday she would have to learn.
Life became difficult for the family with her parents divorcing and
Hadasah had to give up her dreams of being a professional dancer.
Years later, while attending Miami Dade Community College she
studied medicine and Business as her majors and realized she could study
dance as a minor, keeping dance in her life. In 2000, while raising her own family, she started her studies in Tai Chi and Martial Arts. While her children were in Scouting they became part of a Native American dance team and Hadasah was asked to instruct the girls and sing on the drum. vIn 2001 while attending a holistic conference in Broward, she took a belly dance seminar and knew this was her moment in time to begin classes. Life had come full circle. In 2002, she began training seriously in Middle Eastern (Belly) and Turkish Folk dances under her Mentor Raina and became part of the troupe – “The Navel Academy”. Over the past year she has expanded her dance repertoire to include Tribal Fusion, which has been influenced from her studying Tai Chi and Martial Arts. Oriental dance instructors/dancers she has had the honor to study with include: Raina Millman (FL) Aszmara (NY), Myriam Eli (FL), Kahreen & Kira (FL), Shoshanna (CA), Zhaleh Fereshteh (FL), Daniela (FL), Alina – Shrishambhala (FL), Salomeh Azar (FL), Rachel Brice (CA), Zoe (CA), Frederique (CA), Suhaila Salimpour (CA) and many others. She believes dance is
not only entertaining, but is therapeutic, spiritually uplifting and helps
to keep the soul young. Her
desire is to educate and bring love, peace
through dance.
